Markey's Sets the Stage for Former First Lady Laura Bush, CFC Forum 2013

The National Rural Utilities Cooperative Finance Corporation (CFC) held its Forum 2013 at the JW Marriott Indianapolis June 4-7, 2013.  Former First Lady Laura Bush was the keynote speaker for the General Session.  Other dignitaries such as former senators, a general, a past CIA Director, business professionals, best-selling authors and more were part of this educational and inspiring forum.

Markey's Rental & Staging was selected through a bidding process as the audiovisual and staging provider for this annual event, which attracted 1800 cooperative CEOs, staff and directors.  The General Session that featured Former First Lady Laura Bush needed a large stage design.  Black drape was used to incorporate the two 11.3' x 20' screens on either side of center stage, two 9' x 12' screens for overflow sections, and textured mesh drape was hung as decorative elements on the sides of the center stage.  Textured mesh takes lighting very nicely and this gave a nice pop of color to the stage.  Christie 12k HD projectors were utilized for brightness and power and an HD two-camera shoot to further maximize the clarity on on-screen images.  Speakers used Teleprompters and JBL 4886 VerTec Line Arrays were used to carry the sound throughout the large ballroom.  Lighting was a mixture of Martin Mac 101s, Mac700s and Stagebars for the intelligent lighting.

There were four breakouts rooms of four sessions each.  While the Markey's staff is very adept and experienced at setting breakout rooms, CFC Forum’s were unique in that there was a wide variety in the number of people expected at the sessions – anywhere from 60 attendees to 700.  This called for quick turns to adjust the sets, but Markey's staffed appropriately to accomplish this.
